Ruby Scoops is an Ice Cream and sweet treats company that has been based in the DC area for the past 5 years. With the passion of owner Rabia Kamara, help of business partner Emmett Wright, and a growing Northside Richmond neighborhood, Ruby Scoops landed itself in its first brick and mortar location.
Tiara worked closely with owner Rabia Kamara for 3 months to make her intagramable candy land like vision come to life in her company’s new space. The project, which initially started as a mural of Rabia surrounded in sprinkles, turned into an entire interior design project.
With a pastel color palette, original black and white checkerboard floors, and an antique paneled ceiling, the space was transformed into an Ice cream wonderland. Tiara wanted to maintain a bright playful ice cream parlor look, but with a homey welcoming feel, so she worked with the carpenter Greer Roberts to make sure the wood aesthetic from the counters flowed throughout the entire space.
They did this by framing the menu wall with wood on top of pastel stripes, adding wood shelving on the walls, and the biggest attraction, a 4ft wood cut out of the state of Virginia mounted in the display window surrounded by painted spoons. This installation is the perfect compliment to the mural of Rabia in the parallel display window.
The cow print countertops and seat cushions made from gold leaf are just another exciting accent added to the space, because ice cream…and cow print…duh.
